Art of Princess and the Frog -TUESDAY

Disney is going back to their roots with their big new theaterical 2-D animated adaptation of the fairy tale, 'The Princess and the Frog.' But unlike the old tale, this takes place during the jazz age in New Orleans and introduces a new princess to the Disney roster of female characters.

The story follows Tiana, a young girl living in the French Quarter of New Orleans who happens upon a talking frog who claims to be a prince who was cursed by an evil voodoo magician. He tells her that if she kisses him then the spell will be broken and he will be returned to normal. However, when she does, the spell remains unbroken and Tiana gets transformed into a frog herself! Together they try and seek the help of another voodoo practicioner and make many other animal friends along the way.

This film marks Disney's serious return to theaterical 2-D animation and was a move championed by Pixar's John Lasseter. The film is directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, directors of famous 2-D Disney classics like The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, and Treasure Planet. Given that the film will also be a return to the animated Disney musical stylings means the return of Randy Newman as the composer and song-writer! The movie will be releasing widely on December 11th. A new art book for the film will also be available soon and we'll have it in-store Tuesday.
