VINYL GRAFFITI ARTISTS - deadline extended

we are extending the deadline for the Vinyl Graffiti Show to the end of the month -but we need you to send in the 'before' image of the album cover you are going to use. that is -before you do any work on it. simply email me the before image to join the show.

I got to tell you guys that we have gotten quite a few outstanding entries already. Harvey Chan dropped off the first one tonight -and it's very impressive, but i got to tell you -some of the other pieces we got are equally gorgeous. I don't want to give away the finished pieces, but I thought it would be fun to post a handful of the before images here.

Please pass the word out - to anyone you feel might be interested in joining the show.

ALSO REMINDER: This Saturday Nov 24th - Bobby and Kei will be here at the Store to sign books, chat and discuss art for the Launch of their new book and show : Dragon Sketches.

We regret to announce that the Art show and book launch for this weekend has been pushed back by 1 week due to lateness on the part of the printers of the book. The books are in Toronto, but are in que with Canada customs which won't be done until next week.

btw: if you haven't seen Bee Movie and are fans of Jerry Seinfeld - go see it. It's not your typical bug movie. It's essentially what Jerry would be like if he was a Bee. The movie has a lot of very creative bits in it, including terrific character pieces, awesome locations and a silly but original and unexpected story line. It starts out like Ants or Bugs Life, but then takes a turn you don't see in every other bug movie. The book is in stock too - if you wanted to take a look at it.

ARTISTS WANTED FOR GALLERY SHOW

This is a reminder.

The Labyrinth is still looking for artists to participate in our Vinyl Graffiti Show.
To recap:

1. we want 1 piece of illustration from each artist.
2. this is open to anyone - who would like to submit
3. artwork can be done using any medium you like so long as the base is a cardboard record album sleeve (the old black vinyl records). if you don't have one, you can get one at goodwill/salvation army -or ask your friends/neighbours.
4. the art can be any subject, and the only rule is to have some portion of the album cover exposed so we can tell it was a record cover.
5. We're calling this Vinyl Grafitti - but any kind of illustration is permited and encouraged. The term 'graffiti' is used here to represent the fact that you are working over an existing surface.
6. All you got to do to take part is email us, or call us to let us know you are taking part. info@thelabyrinthstore.com or 416 840-4506.
7. Deadline for submissions is November 18th. Please bring the piece in to the store, or email an image of it. Ultimately, we will need it dropped off so we can hang it in the show.
8. If you can, please take an image of the record cover before you do anything to it -so we can see before/after.
9. Tell your friends. This is a group show -we need 30 artists -so the more styles - the better.
10. Art that's picked will go up in the Gallery for a month and all contributors will be invited for a galla opening night.
11. Now go have fun and creat some Vinyl Graffiti !

DRAGON SKETCHES ART SHOW NOV 17

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 17, 7PM.

The Labyrinth is proud to host the book launch and art show for Dragon Sketches. The new book by Imaginism Studios: Bob Chiu and Kei Acedera.

By now, most of you should be familiar with this local couple. A true powerhouse of illustration -their work has been featured in Expose, Exotique, and Spectrum Illustration Annual (including #14 just out -that features 4 images by them.)

Dragon Sketches promises to be the coolest art show we have ever had at the gallery. I just cannot wait to get my hands on the new book too! Fairy Sketches was fantastic; Subway Sketches was a real treat -but Dragon Sketches is going to be something spectacular.

Come on out to the event and show your support for Bob and Kei. It starts at 7pm on Saturday November 17. Copies of the book will be on hand, along with some new prints. Please help pass the word out about this book launch. Every bit of support helps.
