CARTOON BREW

Just a quick note to say thanks to Amid over at www.cartoonbrew.com for helping get the word out. Amid posted a couple of images of the store. Here's one more he didn't use. If you examine the picture you'll see two of Amid's books that we stock. Robots and Cartoon Modern. Both of these books are must have's. Even though Robots was a disapointing story, the art is amazing, and the book is masterfully put together to showcase the great art.

JOSE LOPEZ & JOE WEATHERLY BOOKS

ANIMAL ESSENCE BY JOE WEATHERLY
The new Joe Weatherly book Animal Essence finally made it into the store and it is a really great book. If you love animal drawings, you will love this book. 160 page hardcover, signed and really terrific. Unlike David Colman's book, which has a mix of animal life drawing and character design, Joe's book is a pure sketchbook of animal drawings and paintings from life.

MARIACHI SAMURAI BY JOSE LOPEZ.
Wanted to say thanks to Jose for sending us copies of his book Mariachi Samurai. This was one of the most popular books of last summer. We sold out quickly and feel very fortunate to be able to offer it again. If you haven't got a copy, come and see it for yourself. You'll discover what so many folks already know. Jose is a true powerhouse of drawing.

THE IMPONDERABLES

Hey Folks,

Having a store means meeting a lot of new people. Last night I met Tony, one of the Imponderables.

Tony told me that The Imponderables (Toronto comedy troup) are looking for animators to animate one of their skits. aprox 2 minutes long. they will pay for the work. you can check out their stuff on youtube.

these guys are comedy writers - if you're an animator looking for a short idea and just want to animate and design -this would be perfect for you.

OPENING TONIGHT 6PM-11PM

Quick post to let everyone know -we're opening up the doors tonight at 6pm. Quick warning, this isn't the Grand Opening -so there are still details to take care of, and little things to do -but for the most part all the books are out.

The sign still isn't up, but should be in by Saturday or Monday at the latest.
currently the sign above the store reads 'Second Spin'. We've created a makeshift sandwich board sign to put outside the store, and posted some mini posters in the window so you can find us.

The Grand Opening and first art show will take place in June.

Finally -if you can't make it tonight - come tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that! We'll be open. Plus, expect new book shipments every week, including new manga, graphic novels and so on..

Hours:
Monday-Thursday 11am-8 pm
Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm
Sunday 12pm-7pm

Cheers,
Dan.

MAY 4TH STORE OPENING

Hi All,

The Labyrinth finally has a permanent home for everyone to visit.

Our new address is:

386 Bloor Street West (that's 2 blocks west of Spadina Subway Station)

Opening date:

Friday May 4th 6pm-11pm

Regular Hours:

Monday-Thursday 11am-8pm

Friday-Saturday 11am -11pm

Sunday 12pm-7pm

NOTE:

We've decided to open up the store -even though we won't be getting the new store sign for several more weeks. So until that happens please note: we are next door to an Irish Pub, and directly across the street from BMV. I've attached an image of our new logo and mascot. Look for it in the store window -until we get the big signs up. There are other small details we need to take care of -so the opening this friday is not the grand opening, but simply an opening so you can visit, see the new books and say hello. A proper grand opening will happen in June.

Besides art books, the store will feature a huge selection of Manga, Graphic Novels and Kids illustrated books.

We also plan to use a portion of the store as an art gallery for illustration/animation art -including life drawings, paintings, concept art, character design, comic illustration,etc..

There will be a new show each month of the year. The first show should be up by the time we have the grand opening. More info on that to follow.

PHONE #:

We are still waiting for the phone system to be set up, but hopefully by Friday we will have a new phone # you can reach us at. I will post the phone # on the blog.
