A few high profile books, that we don't yet have images to show you of -but that we are excited about are:

new Claire Wendling Sketchbook - should be in for September. The publisher is selling it exclusively for the month of August, but once this period ends, we will have copies in shop. This one is stylistically different than the other books she has done, and at around $20 US - the most affordable of all the books.

new Chris Sanders Sketchbook #3 - arrives in the next couple of weeks. Chris has been nice enough to sign all the copies - at no extra charge.

Ryan Benjamin's new Pancratia sketchbook is a lot darker than the above books -but equally compelling. If you like gritty stuff - you will love this one. Again, these copies will come signed by the artist.

Travis Charest 2009 Pictures Signed Sketchbook - is a mix of great images, done in his unmistakable style.


Big City Signed Sketchbook by Ragnar : Huge book, awesome stuff - really a departure from the last 3 artbooks.

Mark Brooks - Devilish Signed Sketchbook. If you like solid art, Comic book style sketches and colour illustrations you will really be happy with this one. Mark is the man!


Jose Lopez 4:00 am signed sketchbook - is a real nice collection of work by the man behind Mariachi Samurai. Jose is a concept artist and character designer for animated films and tv shows. Highely recommended.

J Scott Campbell Monster Green Sketchbook - is a followup to last year's Code Orange. By the way - if we can mention it here - Campbell had a wicked Fairy Tale Calander at the con, but he informed me that this item will be available in the fall through retail channels. If you're thinking of buying it on Ebay or someplace like that for a crazy price, do yourself a favour and wait a bit.

Adam Hughes - Oh Wow Signed Sketchbook - followes in the tradition of the ashcan sketchbooks of past years. If you like pencil sketches, this one is amazing.

Art Show @ The Labyrinth August 8th

Everyone is welcome to our first ever Mighty Muggs Art show on Saturday August 8th.

Help us raise money for World Vision, by voting on your favourite Mugg at the show - using spare change. Then, take some time to play CHARACTER DESIGN SHOWDOWN, where you will go up against someone else for 3 minutes - drawing an original design based on a theme. It's like DRAWING IMPROV. Plus, EVERYONE that participates will get a little something for their efforts.

Also - we will be running a special book sale, on select titles -with a portion of profits going to World Vision.

Usually, we don't like to promote what's coming in advance, because it starts people asking us 'is it in yet, is it in?' ha ha.

Well, it seems not posting is having the same effect, so we broke down and are doing this posting. ha ha.

Here are a few of the confirmed new books expected shortly in shop. Many more will be coming, check the blog for more info over the days and weeks to come.

We don't have exact arrival dates or prices yet, but expect decent pricing and delivery in shop over the next 2-4 weeks. Ideally and for the most part, we will be charging the retail price set by the artists for the books (not withstanding exchange rates).

If you want to be notified personally, when these or other books arrive, please give the shop a call and leave us your name/number. That way we will call you when the books arrive.

MIGHTY MUGGS EXTENTION -august 5th

what it is (recap):

This is a Charity / Art Exhibit event.

For fun / exposure/ and a good cause.

Anyone submitting work has the option to sell or keep their work.

All proceeds go to charity (unless mugg is purchased from the labyrinth– in which case cost of original mugg would be reimbursed).

All unsold work will be returned to the artist.

There will be a viewer favourite chosen (by the pocket change/votes in boxes beside each mugg).

FINAL DEADLINE - IS AUGUST 5TH, 2009.

If you've thought about entering our upcoming art show, now is the time to stop thinking and start doing.

Blank Figures are gone, but we encourage you to pick up a regular figure and paint over top of it. Once you're done, no one will know the difference. Plus some of these figures are cheaper than blank ones. In order to reserve blank figures longer, I used an existing figure and its turning out great.

The best paint to use is water based Guache paint. (An airbrush would look awesome if you have one.) if you're using an existing figure, no priming is needed. A bit of varnish at the end will help make the figure nice and shiny if that's what you want.

You can paint any design you wish. Use an existing character from pop culture, or create an original design out of your head.

out of town artists:
we gladly will accept submissions from out of town artists, but please note, as this is a charity event (not for profit) we will not be able to ship back your figures for those that want them back, unless you pay for shipping. Again, we would rather give money to the charity, then spend it on shipping. As an individual artist it might be worth while for you to contribute.

out of town artists, that would like their work seen on our site, but not be part of the official show, may email us a jpeg of their figure, along with a link to their website/blog/flicker account where viewers can learn more about them.

Deadline for out of town artists, mailing in figures is Friday August 7th. Please be sure to include your name/address/phone on a sticker on the bottom of the foot of the character.

use post office shipping, not UPS or other parcel service as they charge customs/broker fees -which would be better off going to charity. You are responsible for any damage due to shipping of your figures, so pack carefully. please email us BEFORE you ship out any figures. thanks.
