MGS3: Snake Eater coming to 3DS!
Konami has confirmed that the Metal Gear Solid game they're making for Nintendo's upcoming 3DS handheld will be a port of the hit PS2 game 'Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.' Konami plans to release it during the Spring of 2011 close to the launch of the 3DS. Hideo Kojima recently spoke in a video during Nintendo's press conference in Tokyo that he plans to try and take advantage of all of the 3DS's capabilities from the touch screen to the sleep mode features. During the 3DS's earlier unveiling at E3, Kojima and his team took a week off to quickly put together a real time tech demo video to test the graphical capabilities of the 3DS. You can watch it here below, but of course, in order to experience the 3-D effect you'd have to see it running on a 3DS:

Toronto SpecFic Colloquium
On October 23, 2010 authors, editors and readers will gather to explore the state of speculative fiction in Canada at Toronto’s SpecFic Colloquium.
Canadian speculative fiction (science fiction, fantasy, horror, etc.) has been increasingly recognized internationally for the calibre of its authors and their insight into the nature of social and religious identities, the implications of new technologies, and the relationship between humankind and its environments. “Our authors are breaking out of the genre ghetto,” says co-organizer Helen Marshall. “Their stories disrupt habits, overcome barriers of cultural perception to make the familiar strange. They show us the speculative fiction can be an ideal tool for social examination and critique.”
