first off -Bill Plympton discuss his method for creating a feature film that many students I know could probably relate to:

“You’re so focused. You don’t do e-mails or phone calls. I get up at 6, don’t shave or shower, just start drawing. It’s like a ride. I hear that novelists do this too. They’re so focused for a year or whatever that afterwards they just collapse for two or three weeks. Sleep. Or drink.”

more specifically on the subject of 2d vs. 3d - Don H says something that is so true:

"A lot of people seem to assume that there is a ‘make art’ button on a computer and everything in the digital world is magical and easy. There are endless misconceptions about how these tools work and little understanding how computer animators have to slave away just as hard as traditional animators do.”

Mike Ploog is one of my favourite artists out there. He's been around forever, but his art is still fresh and well worth examining. Labyrinth favourite Kei (Imaginsm Studios) Acedera is the artist behind the new book : How to talk to Girls. The first book in a trilogy by 9 year old Alec Greven. Learn real tips while laughing out loud at tips and tricks you can use. Future books will teach you how to talk to your parents and to your friends.

The art, by Kei , is featured on every page. The drawings are simple but very appealing . Kei is a rising star, and these black and white drawings are only a small step on her way up.

Kei Acedera's drawings in the book, remind me of the Peanuts comic strip.

The only dissapointment for a fan like me, is that her name is nowhere to be found on the cover. Neither are her drawings, but once you open the book - you can't miss them. Kei is a Toronto illustrator and animator whose work can be found in such books at Faerie Sketches, Dragon Sketches and many other books from Imaginism Studios.
