Zack Snyder, who adapted and directed '300' and 'Watchmen' is making his first animated film based on the children's book 'THE GUARDIANS OF GA'HOOLE.' The studio, being unable to properly know how to pronounce 'Ga'Hoole' decided to rename it to 'Legend of the Guardians.' Here is the first trailer! If you like owls, you will like this trailer! But who doesn't like owls? Who? Who?

Battle Angel Alita Live Action-News Update

Fans of the manga 'Battle Angel Alita' have been waiting for a VERY long time for James Cameron to finally actually get down to making the live action adaptation that's he's held the rights to and has had artists working on in pre-production for almost as long as his best selling film 'Avatar.'

Some recent news suggests that Cameron is indeed still primed to direct the movie, but he'll hve his hands tied with a sequel to 'Avatar' as FOX is eager to make more money that it already knows what to do with...

Still, news has comes from his producer John Landau that 'Battle Angel Alita' is being set to begin after Avatar's sequel, it will feature the Motorball storyline from the manga, and that it will be getting renamed. News has also been revealed that the sequel to 'Avatar' may not be called 'Avatar 2' but perhaps something like 'Na'vi'?

Whatever they'll be called, we're sure to be looking forward to them! Hopefully it won't take another 10 years... But in the meantime, fans of the manga can grab some older volumes as well as the recent 'Last Order' volumes at our store at U.S. Cover Price!

Debate: Acting or Animation?

An old debate has been re-ignited about the use of motion capture and animation in live-action films surrounding the Academy Awards that will be taking place this month. It began awhile back with Andy Serkis' performances for the character Gollum in 'The Lord of the Rings' Trilogy, and is now centered on the performances of the actors, notably Zoe Saldana, in James Cameron's 'Avatar.' The question is whether digital performances are worthy of recognition in the category of best actor/actress or best supporting actor/actress nominations.

James Cameron has been up and front about how his actor's performances were the exact same as those you see in the film that make the CG avatars and Na'vi come to life and thus they ought to be recognized. However the Avademy Awards have igored these claims, and many argue that despite what Cameron says, the performances of the actors have been altered to suit the alien designs of the CG characters and thus are ineligible. The line between the digital and the real are almost on the point of disappearing; so many argue that in light of such technology an entirely new category of awards for motion and performance capture ought to be made.
