Dr. Suess' 'The Lorax' in production as a 3-D animated film!

'Summer Wars' Theaterical Trailer!

Funimation has picked up and dubbed 'Summer Wars', the new film by the director of 'The Girl who Leapt through Time.' They'll be releasing it in select theaters sometime soon, so keep an eye out for where it'll be playing!

'ReBoot: The Complete Collection' Fan Art Contest

A complete DVD boset of the groundbreaking CG-animated TV show 'ReBoot' has been announced, and to celebrate its coming, Shout! Factory is holding a fan-art contest!

"Fans of ReBoot are some of the most creative people out there, now is your chance to show it! We're inviting all ReBoot fans to submit their artistic renditions of ReBoot - the characters, the sets, the action! Final winners will be chosen by the original ReBoot production designer himself, Brendan McCarthy! The art work will be printed in the first edition booklet accompanying the complete DVD box set due out early 2011. The winning submissions will also be featured on ReBoot.com and the artists will receive a free copy of the complete box set. The contest will be open for submissions starting October 20, 2010 and run through December 3, 2010."

The tale of Oswald

The creators of the upcoming Wii game 'Epic Mickey' have put out a featurette that discusses one of Walt Disney's original animated characters 'Oswald the rabbit.' Oswald will be a pivotal character in the game alongside Mickey Mouse. You can learn more by watching the entire video below:

Bryan Lee O'Malley - Hopeless Savages

No doubt if you were paying attention last week - you will have noticed the quiet release of the collected Hopeless Savages comics from Oni (publisher of Scott Pilgrim). This book features several different artists, including early, OUT-OF-PRINT Bryan Lee O'Malley stories.

When we first opened the store a few years ago, we had people asking for this title almost every week. The old thinner editions were out of print then and they still are now. But at least now we have the stories in this new deluxe omnibus collection.

Get it when you stop by and see what you have been missing all these years.

Fabula Nova Crystallis Trailer

Square Enix has officially released their TGS trailers online and that includes the one that showcased 'Final Fantasy Agito XIII' & 'Final Fantasy Versus XIII.' There will be a big event for these two games on January 11th, 2011. That's 1-1-11. In the meantime you can enjoy new footage in the trailer below which features a mix of pre-rendered CGI and realtime graphics on the PSP and PS3:

Disney is running a promotion similar to what FOX did for James Cameron's Avatar with Avatar Day. It's a special preview event that will let fans get a sneak peak at 20 mins from the film in 3-D IMAX. Tickets began to become available today, and unfortunately it seems that the IMAX theatre in downtown Toronto is already sold out! Archie publishing new Mega Man comics!

Archie Comics will be releasing new comics based on Mega Man that will be available in spring of 2011. They promise that it will be faithful to the game's continuity. New trailer for 'Arrietty: The Borrower'

Studio Ghibli's latest film is making the rounds and is being well received. It is directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, whom Hayao Miyazaki praises as "the first director born and raised at Studio Ghibli."



We're certainly looking forward to this film and any related artbooks and merchandise as our store carries plenty of art and production books from the entirety of Studio Ghibli's film catalog! Come in and check them out for yourself!

Gorillaz - Rhinestone Eyes music video storyboard

Here's a storyboard video made for the band Gorillaz for a track from their new album 'Plastic Beach.' From what I know the video is still under production and we can expect to see the finished version sometime in the future.

James Cameron's AVATAR - Extended Collector's Edition

If you're like me, you made the right choice not to buy the current Avatar DVD/Blu-ray release and wait until FOX was ready to release a proper extensive Collector's Edition to Avatar. And you won't have long to wait as this will soon be releasing on November 16th!

Currently Avatar is re-playing in select 3-D theatres with a little additional footage tacked on, but this upcoming Collector's Edition will have even more footage that Cameron has taken time to re-insert back into the film with fully finished VFX including scenes of Earth in the future that were cut from the original film to reduce its run time! On top of that, an additional 45 minutes of deleted scenes will be available to see including a very extensive behind the scenes documentary , production materials, scene deconstructions and plenty of other technical videos for those of us who love seeing the technology and work that went into making this film! The Blu-ray version is going to be well produced and interactive on par with what was done for Watchmen! For more details, go here.



Also FYI, this blu-ray is not a 3-D blu-ray. Currently Avatar will only be available on blu-ray with the sale of certain branded 3D-TVs. They'll very likely re-release it again in the future in 3-D, so if you're in the market for getting a fancy TV soon, you might want to wait longer, otherwise, this set will be good enough.

Fans of Avatar can also inquire about the film's artbook at our store!

Another tease of the new Berserk anime!

They are also cross-promoting the latest manga volume's release in Japan as well! Looks like they're also using CGI for the monsters but it seems to blend in really well! If you're looking for older volumes then drop by our store!

Abraham Lincoln - Vampire Hunter

Seth Grahame Smith, author of 'Pride & Prejudice & Zombies' also has a book about Abraham Lincoln's unrecorded war on vampires. FOX has also picked up the rights to adapt the book into a live action film that will be produced by none other than Tim Burton, and directed by Timur Balmambetov, the Russian director of the adaptations Nightwatch, Daywatch, and the recent 'Wanted.'
