ART OF DEANNA M - SOLD OUT IN SAN DIEGO

The Art of Deanna Marsigliese was a huge hit in San Diego. We sold out of all the copies we had by Sunday afternoon. All sorts of folks picked up the book including animators,designers and artists from Pixar,Disney, Dreamworks, Cartoon Network, Nickelodean,and more. We met so many nice folks - it was really a blast.

For anyone interested in a copy of the book, we will have 20 copies available for the art show this Thursday 7-10pm. Come see Diana's originals. All the drawings are hand done using pen,marker and guache. You can meet Diana and hopefully pick up the book. We will also be accepting preorders for the book. Those who decide to preorder, will get a free 8.5 by 11 colour print signed by Deanna.

While at comic-con we picked up a bunch of cool sketchbooks including the new Chris Sanders, John Nevarez, J Scott Campbell, Travis Charest, Adam Hughes, Rob Rhupel, Bill Presing and more.

Exciting News. We just got in a sample copy of our new book: The Art of Deanna Marsigliese. It's at the store now, so stop by to take a look. We are accepting pre-orders. Books are $30 canadian funds. Copies are expected to arrive at the end of august. Note, a few copies will be available next week at the launch of the Deanna Marsigliese Art Show at the store. The original art is amazing,and worth seeing in person. That's Thursday August 2nd 7-10pm in the Store.

The Labyrinth will be at Comic-Con this week. We'll be having the US debut of the DM artbook at booth E-9. We will be sharing the space with talented artists: Robin Mitchell, Jason Peltz and Kevin Barber. If you happen to be at the show, please stop by and say hello.

We will start shipping the books as soon as they arrive at the end of august. you can pre-order now to ensure you get a signed copy. the price is $30 canadian/copy. Shipping is $10 in canada and $12 in the US.
The book is 72 pages, full colour, hard cover 8.5 by 11 inches in size. If you like the two images shown here, you won't be dissapointed. the book is awesome. every page is a colour illustration, done with pen/ink/brush by Deanna.

Dreamworks MONSTERS VS. ALIENS

Even though its 2 years away, Dreamworks is setting its opening weekend for its upcoming 3-D CG movie according to ICV2.com. The week after James Cameron will release his 3D movie 'Avatar'.

I had to blog about this because 1) I love 3D movies 2) look at the picture. that monster is sooo cute.

Art of Deanna Marsigliese ART SHOW & BOOK LAUNCH

Our next art show premier will be held on Thursday
August 2nd from 7pm-10pm and will feature the stylish
art of Deanna Marsigliese. Deanna is a Toronto
designer whose most recently done character design
work for Nelvana as well as Sony Imageworks. Deanna is
also a teacher at Seneca College in the animation
department.

Even though, she's quite young, Deanna's work is
heavily influenced by vintage art and fashion. Her art
is reminiscent of Ronald Searle's work. I've included
AN image of Ronald Searle's art above for anyone whose
unfamiliar with his work.

The Artshow on August 2nd will also be the Toronto
Premier of the new book, the first published by us
(the labyrinth): The Art of Deanna Marsigliese.
Quantities will be limited for the event, but more
copies will be forthcoming at the end of August.

As with Bob Chiu's and Kei Acedera's art show, you can
expect awesome original sketches on hand. Deanna's
sketches are all hand drawn, full colour works done
with pen and marker. Anyone interested in purchasing
an original piece, is welcome to stop by the store, or
email us.

I LUV HALLOWEEN ANIMATED WEBISODE

Tokyopop just started airing animated shorts based on its original english language manga: I LUV HALLOWEEN. The Animation isn't amazing, but it's got a cool look and interesting style. If you like the manga, or if you like Tim Burton or Johnen Vasquez stuff, you should check it out. The manga issues 1 and 2 are out, and 3 is coming soon.

There will be other episodes including Bizenghast and others.
